The importance of sustainability
The strain upon our planet's resources and the impact that strain has on our daily lives is clear for all to see. It is vital that forward thinking investors realise that in order to secure long term gains, we must all look to invest into areas that preserve and protect the planet's resources.
The Problem
A decade ago climate change was seen as mere conjecture, but now it's becoming a reality. Whether it be lethal storms and flooding or forest fires and heat waves the effects of global warming are becoming steadily more evident, year on year. The study of tree rings, coral and ice core samples all prove that the world has never warmed so fast as in the last 30 years, strangely during a time when the natural climate influences such as solar cycles and volcanoes should, if anything, have been cooling the planet down. Oceanic studies even suggest that there is in fact more warming to come. Reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change now affirm that human activities are indeed contributing to this climactic change, so the message is: now is the time for action, not tomorrow.
Solutions
To reduce the amount of CO2 emissions we must act now and look to reduce or cut these out in our daily lives. One of the most efficient ways to reduce this is to start at home. We believe that the market need for sustainable housing is clear and well defined. Many governments across the world have already set targets for the number of green developments within their countries and this is growing monthly. The only way to push this change forward faster than expected is to give the private sector incentives to back this new method of construction. In this case this refers to the niche development of sustainable housing (both residential and commercial) that is funded by private individuals and then sold on to the market as a whole.
When we discuss sustainability we are looking for a triple bottom line payoff in terms of a positive impact on the environment which we believe will result in a bottom line payoff for forward looking investors. Sustainable housing is defined as planning, designing and building dwellings that are more socially, environmentally and economically sustainable.
A sustainable house is designed with people in mind - it is safe, secure and universally designed. It is cost-efficient over time, comfortable, cheap to maintain and complements our environment. In short, the type of house that we'd all like to live in. In our minds this is the future of real estate across the world.
Our first two sustainable developments will be launched in October 2007. For further details please contact us.
